Exhausted beyond words
When words fail to describe the level of fatigue one experiences, it is safe to say that they are truly exhausted. Here are some adjectives to embody this feeling:
Physically drained
The body aches, each muscle feels like it has been worked to its limit and beyond. The simple act of getting out of bed or carrying out daily tasks becomes a daunting chore. One may feel like they have been run over by a truck several times and left to fend for themselves. This physically draining exhaustion can stem from overworking, chronic illness, lack of sleep, among other factors.
Mentally spent
Beyond the physical exhaustion lies the mental fatigue. The mind feels like it is in a fog, unable to focus or process any more information. The smallest tasks seem like a marathon and motivation seems like a foreign concept. Even after hours of rest, the mind does not feel refreshed. This type of exhaustion may stem from stress, anxiety, depression, work burnout, and many other factors.
Emotionally shattered
Then there is emotional exhaustion, which leaves one feeling hollow, depleted, and shattered. Each emotional encounter becomes a taxing task, leading to anxiety, panic attacks, and stress. Simple acts of love and care may not feel enough, leading to feelings of detachment and numbness. This type of exhaustion can stem from relationship struggles, chronic stress, trauma and many other factors.
These types of exhaustion may not always occur in isolation, and can occur simultaneously or in varying combinations. Therefore, it is important to give ourselves the rest and care that we deserve to avoid this level of fatigue.
